More IS Less

Just the other day I washed my hair, separated it and wanted to set it in rods quickly, so I decided to try to use less rods by making the amount of locks that I would place on the rod as many as possible. I sat under the dryer for about 30 minutes. When I opened my hair it was not fully dried and still damp in some places. My curls were not very tight, which meant that my style would not las as long as it usually does i.e four to five days. Then it dawned on me (duuh!)

Up date

Hey Everyone,

Just updating you on the stuff that's been going on with me. Last month and the fist few weeks of this month have been quite interesting and intense. Our beloved PM died and it was a time of national mourning. That was a time of reflection and prayer for the nation.

Then Tropical Tomas with winds up to 70 miles per hr gave us a wake up call and we,on the island are still recovering from its effectas.

Here is a photo of me at 14 months with Sister locks and still loving it.

Am I a Dancer????

Hi everyone,
So here's the story............. I've decided to take the plunge and sign up for a beginner's Jazz class at one of the Dance school. Whooooooaaaaaaaa at the first class I was thinking....mmmmmm What have I gotten mself into here? BUT I hung in there. Some days I feel as if I have two LEFT feet. I have to concentrate sooooo hard I thinking that my brain will freeze or fry which ever comes first. lol!!
Never the less I'm still trying.

So tell me have you ever fought your fears and did something that you've always wanted to do, I want to hear your opinions. Write me and tell me what you think.

Bajan Girl meets Stereotyping

STEREOTYPE - a standardized mental picture that is held in common by members of a group and that represents an oversimplified opinion, prejudiced attitude, or uncritical judgment

"What have you done with your hair?"
"It's Sisterlocked" said I with a smile
"Can you open it?' with a curious glance
"No this is it." still smiling was I
"Can you comb it? I must comb MY hair everyday"
Silence with a thoughtful look on my face
"So are a RASTA NOW???"
"I was shocked, taken aback and retorted, CERTAINLY NOT!!!"

How could this be ............... especially when the person knows that I am a born again, water baptized Christian.:)

Does the sight of locks, put some persons in such a state of discomfort that the only way to interpret this natural hair style is to link it to a rastfarianism??

Thankfully those comments are few and far between........ but it means that we as a race just need to become comfortable with the options available to us and love each other unconditionally.

Products

I dilute the shampoo - one part shampoo to two parts water in the spray bottle. Spray evenly over hair, rinse well and repeat.

Pantene Ice Shine is clear but should be diluted.

I occasionally use ApHogee Style and Wrap Mousse, it's not sticky and feels quite light. My hair will last a little longer, like two days more at times.

I use this Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier to moisurize my hair at least twice a week.
All in all I can say that I'm pretty satisfied with the results thus far and I'm looking forward to sharing more with you. So happy and blessed because this is my 1 yr locversary. Getting great compliments and loving the locked way of life.

My Hair Routine

I thought I'd just share my hair routine with you and some of the products I'm currently using. They work for me and I'm quite happy with the results so far.

I wash once a week using Pantene Ice Shine, diluted one part shampoo to two parts water. I usually us a Chamois to collect the excess water from my hair or let it air dry if I have the time.

The Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier adds moisture and I use it maybe twice a week.

Some hair photos

Here's the link for my photos http://nzingae.slide.com/ Go there and have a look at my hair pics from three to nine months. I'll post some other photos shortly. I'm still trying to get them put together.
It's quite interesting when some folks still think that if you wear your hair in a locked style, you are "Rastafarian". This hair care system is versatile and something worth taking seriously. This helps me to take care of myself my temple(my body).

Finally

Hi there friends

After trying and trying to create this space I think I've finally gotten it to where I want to have it. This is my first entry and so I just want to update you on what has be happening with me during the past few months.

I've tried to chronicle the developments of my hair every three months. So I've taken photos so that I remember and keep a record of the growth.

I will add photos so you can see the developments thus far.
