Second Locversary !!!!!!!!

Hi

I was really excited about getting my videos uploaded to the site to coincide with my locversary but due to some glitches with the technology i.e I didn't know how to do it, I was alone and really wanted to get it done correctly so I did have to wait on family members to assist which means that the help was not always available etc.etc
I hope you enjoy my videos.
I also wish to announce that I have a you tube channel.http://www.youtube/Nzingae1
So visit me and leave a comment. I'm new at this so please be patient. :) Here's a recent photo

I was thinking that it would be neat to improve on the pipe cleaner so as to minimize the amount of lint /fur/fuzz which would be left in your hair from the pipe cleaner so this is what I did. Hope you like. If you have any questions, write and let me know.

Enjoy it and let me know what you think

Sprial Set

Hi,
I want to try a spiral set within the next few days. Here's the thing. I am ANTI-LINT anything that will leave residue or a buildup of any kind as much as is possible I'll avoid it so I got to thinking about the much talked about pipe cleaners. From checking on You Tube and various blogs I've noticed that lots of people use the pipe cleaner and it gives a really lovely set. The down side is that there is lint/bits of fuzz from the pipe cleaner left in the locks after use. I decided to cover the pipe cleaners with some masking tape to cover the fuzz. I'll try it and then keep you posted on the results. Will be sure to post some pix of the whole process. I'll be back :)

Hair Care Regime

I just wanted to share with you guys my regime for my hair care and a few other lessons, I've learnt along the way. I drink lots of water in order to moisturize inside and out. I consciously have to work on that daily.
I wash my hair every seven to ten days. I wash with a clarifying shampoo from VO5 called Kiwi Lime.  I dilute it one part to two parts water, so I don't encourage buildup of product in my hair. My first wash is with clarifying shampoo and my second wash is with a moisturizing shampoo called L'Oreal Ever Pure Moisture Shampoo, which by the way is Sulphate Free . After washing I always dry my hair with a shamois, it collects the moisture but gives no lint (Yeah). Next I apply some Tallijah Waajid Mist Bodifier and set in curl rods. I usually let it  stay overnight or longer to give me a good set. I apply Tui Oil from Carol's Daughter to my scalp and if I discover any dry scalp I apply Rosemary and Glycerin Astringent.

I've learnt along the way:
  • Always protect my hair as much as possible, by covering my head in a satin night cap, in order to prevent lint buildup since it's the number enemy of locks.
  • Massage the scalp daily or at least several times per week because it encourages the scalp to release its natural oils and it feels good.
  • Wearing locks is a process that is dynamic so there's no need to obsess too much about the little issues which you will encounter, cause there are answers out there online ( Youtube or Hair groups), from your consultant or locktician.
  • Confidence will build as you continue in the process, there are always persons that you will encounter who like your hair, and really are genuinely fascinated by it or at worse those who are curious and just want to stare at your locks.
  • Last but not least Be Patient

Natural Hair style for Kids

Hey everyone,
I thought I'd experiment and try out a new style on my daughter so we decided to do an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse, then shampoo with Sauve Clarifying Shampoo and finish with Jamaica Mango & Lime No More Itch Conditioning Pac

I towel dried her hair and applied Cantu Shea Butter Daily Oil Moisturizer. Next I braided hair in small box plaits, used curling rods to set a spiral curls. I took them out the next morning and had a really nice set. These pixs are after 3 days but still pretty good.

Update

Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I last posted but I promise I'll make it up to you guys.  I was just plain old busy and things got a little too hectic for me to fit everything in.
So let me fill you in on what I've been doing-  I changed the hair oil from the Khoret Amen Oil to the Tui Oil from Carol's Daughter it smells so refreshing and it's definitely more tolerable for me, I even have a leave in moisturizer with the same scent  from Carol's Daughter. I'm continuing the use of the TGel Shampoo from Neutrogena and the L'Oreal Ever Pure Moisture Shampoo. I added one more thing that is helping me wonderfully with the dry scalp. It occurred to me while I was reading the Lock it Up site that lots of the persons who commented about the elimination of dry scalp used one thing......some kind of astringent so I decided to get an astringent. I went to the Supermarket and noticed an astringent at a good price......... about $5.00, called Glycerine and Rose Water I use it often, before each wash I'll apply it to my scalp then wash as usual. So far so good. This time I went for 2 weeks with out  washing my hair and it actually had no major itching, totally COOL!

My locks are 23 months and counting, still loving it.......

So until next time remember to "Wear your Natural hair with STYLE."

New Look

I thought I'd change the look of my page and freshen it up a bit. Hope you like it...smile
Well what's new about my hair, life etc? Life is hectic at this time of the year, it's near the end of the school year reports, parent meetings, graduation, checklist......... Hectic to say the least.
I recently finished my shampoo - Nature's Gate Shampoo Color Protecting but I started getting itchy scalp and majorly so. I bought a Neutrogena T Gel for itchy scalp condition and decided to give it a try. I used it once ........... here's how I did the first wash with the Neutrogena T Gel and the second wash with L'Oreal Ever Pure Moisture Shampoo. I also used Khoret Amen oil from Carol's Daughter, the oil really settled my scalp BUT I don't really like the woodsy scent I found it too over powering for my senses. SOOOO I think I'll try the Tui oil from Carol's Daughter and hope that I can tolerate it. I'll continue with this regime and keep you folks up to date on how it's going.

I'm now twentyone months sisterlocked....... and going :) and going :) and going :) :)
