Ooops I Lost a Lock

I had my hair in a style where I used rubber bands to hold it secure, I started to remove the band and my friend volunteered to help me take them out. suddenly I heard a strange sound, it had a crunch to it. I put my hand up to feel my hair and would you believe it........OOOOPPSS!!! my lock got cut off.

I've saved my lock and I'm just waiting to have it reattached when  my hair has grown out a bit more.

Hair Update 2015

 2015-04-15

Since 2014 I've continued with my regular hair regime. I've found that less is more comfortable for me. The trick is being consistent in the maintenance of my hair. Wash every two weeks now. Apply Rosewater and Glycerine to moisturize and soothe my scalp. Use a moisturizing shampoo or one colour treated hair.
I condition with a Pantene Pro V Intense Moisturizing Conditioner, it's really  a very nice product. My hair Loves it and so do I.

I have used some bronze colour in my hair. I did this last summer, in 2014, wanted a little change and a bit more colour.
I almost can't believe that five years have gone by so speedily. Still loving the journey though.
It's always a pleasure to talk to curious persons about the process and how versatile it is to sisterlock.
Until next post.

Come Home To Sisterlocks

Come Home To Sisterlocks

Here is the story of how it all got started. I found it so informative but it was also quite inspiring, cause Dr. Cornwell was able to take this revolutionary invention and share it with the world. So we are the better for it.

Leave your comments. Share it. The information is definitely relevant.

How to do a spiral set

I've gotten a few questions from friends and acquaintances from time to time so I wanted to go ahead and try to answer them......

  • What are pipe cleaners?
  •  Pipe cleaners are light weight and flexible.
  • Fold it in half.
  • I will usually cover them with masking/packing tape in order to keep down the fuzz from the pipe cleaner.
  • Then wrap wet hair around the pipe cleaner, be careful to wrap the hair over itself so the ends are secured.
  • Bend the tip to secure.
  • Air dry or sit under the hair dryer until it is dry.
  • Straighten the tip and release from the hair gently, wear the spiral
  • Or open for a super curly style that will surely last for more than a week.

My Hair

I've been growing tired of dying my hair. It only remains dark for about a week then I see the greys shooting out again. Sooo frustrating.

Hair Update 2014

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! GOOD HEALTH AND WISDOM IN 2014

I've been meaning to answer some questions but the demands of life's twist and turns - work, school, motherhood and all that's involved took me away.
My hair is now four years and four months. My favourite way to do my hair.

Rather my go-to style is a spiral set.

It's simple: You can do it
1          Buy some black or dark brown pipe cleaners from a craft store, they are rather economical.
            Deanna's Dash  (Michaels , if you're traveling)
2          Bend the pipe cleaner in half, tip to tip  if you have short to medium length hair.
Shoulder length will use the full pipe cleaner not bent.
3          Cover the pipe cleaner with masking tape, to keep down the fuzz getting in your hair.

4          Section your hair, 4-6 locks all over. Roll hair from tip
5          Let hair completely dry.
6          Remove the rods gently. Wear in spirals.
7          Can last for up to two weeks or until you decide to wash your hair.

Hair Update

I'm now at the FOUR YEAR mark and I'm actually quite satisfied with my growth and the health of my hair and scalp. I still get dry patches occasionally but this is easily remedied by applying my Glycerine and Rosewater mixture. It's easy to find. I get it from Super Centre in the Toiletry section. It's economical just about $3.00 :). It's actually made in Trinidad. Sure you'd be able to find it in Health Food stores.

Will post recent pix in my BLUE BOX Series Soon!!

My hair is shoulder length just above the bra kinda. It's thick and bouncy. I'm still LOVING my SISTER LOCKS. I still colour when I can't stand the grey anymore or when my daughter comments about how much greys I have...(ha ha).

Will tell you more later.
